KATE
At the age of 30, Kate experienced a pivotal moment when she encountered her Buddhist teacher, Lama Sangyay Tendzin. This transformative meeting inspired frequent visits to ‘Theg-Chog Norbu Ling’, a tranquil Tibetan Buddhist Monastery nestled in the picturesque South of France. It was here that Kate underwent a profound personal transformation.
In pursuit of this newfound path, Kate acquired "La Tuilerie", a majestic, 150-year-old stone house in France, located just 7 kilometers from the monastery. This acquisition not only brought her closer to her spiritual guide and his teachings but also marked the beginning of her quest to create a haven of wellness and tranquility, in harmony with the natural world.
Residing at "La Tuilerie", Kate discovered the joys of solitude and connection with nature. Her days became intertwined with the land, as she cultivated flowers, fruit trees, and vegetables. This journey has been one of learning and self-reliance, embracing activities such as cooking, baking bread, and various crafts like sewing, stitching, crocheting, and knitting.
Through this lifestyle, Kate has learned to appreciate the cycle of nature, where nothing is wasted, and everything has a purpose. Her garden is not just a source of physical nourishment but a sanctuary for meditation. Nature's bounty has taught her patience, the value of effort, and the joy of reaping the rewards of hard work.
In her desire to share the joy and well-being she has discovered, Kate founded the French Association “DEKYID-DZONG”, aptly named ‘Well-being Fortress’. Her journey from intellect to heart has been profound and fulfilling.
Kate warmly invites you to explore this path of heartfelt living and learning, a journey that promises transformation, peace, and a deeper connection with oneself and nature.
TSHERING
As a chef since almost 15 years, trained in both gastronomical and traditional restaurants, the questions as « how », « when » and « what » to cook are constantly on Tshering’s mind.
Ayurveda came on her way as an answer and far beyond.
She was moved right away by the systematic, down-to-earth yet poetical approach of this discipline and how we can easily integrate it on a daily basis.
After a first transmission based on approaching our local culinary and foraging traditions through ayurvedic principles, Tshering recieved a traditional form of teaching with an ayurvedic doctor during five years, mainly in Kerala. It was done by assisting in the various aspects of the practice such as treatments, consultations, taking care of the patients, cooking, collecting herbs for medicines etc.
That transformative experience led her to leave Paris’ busy city life and join a Buddhist retreat center five years ago in order to get a deeper understanding of the intertwined link within ourselves, nature and community. She pursues her studies through training on awareness while cooking and foraging for the community under the guidance of Lama Sangyay Tendzin.
Out of the desire to spread and share what she learned, the Dekyid Dzong adventure came up as an evidence, a door that opens to new inner horizons.
WANGMO
Life is a quest. Finding your place, the one that makes sense. Not just for yourself, for others too. This quest has led Wangmo along a path rich in encounters and experiences, until this liberating feeling: “I am where I am supposed to be, with the people for who making sense is essential”.
Wangmo settled in the heart of a small mountain village, between the Hautes Corbières and the Haute-Vallée de l'Aude. There was no decision to be made, just to follow the obvious: there is no longer any need to live in the past, and there is no longer any need to expect from the future but to build it at each present moment.
This is how Dé-kyid Dzong makes sense: an inner journey from the head to the heart, in response to a quest that can only come through yourself, and then out into the world. Without pressure, with compassion.
It's in accompanying and taking care that Wangmo finds her place, being where the need is. And it's in highlighting the power of artistic creation and craftsmanship. These are the keys to connecting with yourself, expressing yourself, being centred, present and aware. Speaking your truth.
